If you are a homeowner in London and are tired of the look of your home, you should consider making some changes. This doesn’t mean that you need to do a complete home renovation. You can make a few simple changes in your home if you know a few of the most recent trends. You can make most of the trends work in your home, regardless of your budget.

#1 Loft Conversion

One of the most popular trends today is loft conversion. This is a way to add space to your otherwise cramped home, making things more comfortable. You can use the conversion anyway that you like. For example, if you have a child sharing a bedroom, you can hire a company who specializes in loft conversion West London. They can help create the additional bedroom that you need. You can also use the space for storage, a den, a home office, and even a spare bathroom. The best thing about a loft conversion is that it is less expensive than a home extension and it would take much less time to complete.

#2 Focal Point Walls

Many London homes today have one wall that is the focal point of the room. You can leave three of the room’s walls the neutral color that you currently have, such as white, eggshell, or beige, and make their fourth wall pop. Some homeowners are using really bright colors on their one wall, while others are using other materials such as unfinished wood and stylish wallpaper. Making one wall the focal point of your room is a great way to add some character to the room.

#3 Make the Staircase the Home’s Focal Point

If you have an open staircase in your home, you should consider dressing it up. You don’t need to spend too much money to get a beautiful, dramatic staircase that can make any home look elegant and unique. To dress up the staircase, you would need to change the flooring on the stairs, such as ripping up the carpet. Replacing the old staircase with hardwood is a great idea. You would also need to change the spindles and the railing. The final product can give your home the wow factor that you have been looking for.

#4 Granite Countertops

Nothing says high quality and class like granite countertops. Granite countertops can change the whole look of your kitchen and your bathroom. They are a bit pricey, however, they make all the difference.

#5 Open Concept Floor Plans

The latest design trends are open floor plans. Gone are the days where each room was separate from one another and closed off. More and more homeowners want to open up their homes so that the kitchen, dining room, and living areas are all open. This would mean knocking down some walls. As long as the walls are not weight bearing, they can come down. If the walls that need to come down are weight bearing, you can add a simple joist beam to hold up the ceiling and they can also add a touch of style to the home. Open concept floor plans are great for families with children because it makes it easier to keep an eye on them. This type of floor plan is also great for entertaining.

If you are unhappy with your home in its current state, you can make a few changes to make it more livable and attractive. The current trends in home design won’t cost you too much money. If you have the budget for renovations, you can make your home modern.
