Those Little Extras Make a Huge Difference When Selling Your High-End Home

Even in the best of markets, prime real estate can be difficult to sell because of the cost. Let’s face it. Few people really have the money for luxury homes and those who do can afford to be quite picky. Whether you are downsizing or simply moving to a new location, you do want your home to sell as quickly as possible, usually because the longer it stays on the market, the more likely you are to find a need to drop the asking price. A few little extras can go a very long way when showing your lovely high-end home.

Curb Appeal

Curb Appeal Is More Than a Well-Manicured Lawn

So many homeowners hear about the importance of curb appeal and so they go above and beyond keeping the grass neatly trimmed, weeded, and edged. Unfortunately, curb appeal is so much more than a well-kept lawn. There is something cold and uninviting about a home with a lack of landscaping. If you expect to get top dollar for your home, why not invest in a bit of extra landscaping.

If you notice that the walkway is a bit worn, why not move on to the artistic effect you can get with paving stones? Or, if you don’t want to add an abundance of flowers and other plants which take a lot of care, why not invest in hardscaping? These areas are relatively maintenance-free and are quite trendy among high-end homebuyers.

De-Clutter Your Bedroom

When You’ve Been Advised to Reduce the Interior Clutter

Real estate agents will always tell you to reduce the amount of clutter in the interior of your home for various reasons. Most often the logic is that a room devoid of clutter will give the appearance of being larger than one filled to the ceiling with clutter. You will be advised to remove at least of all those knick-knacks you have lying about, and any magazines, books and other non-essential items should be removed as well.

However, when it comes to the bedrooms, you want to do something even beyond keeping it clutter-free. There is nothing more unappealing than a cold stark bedroom. This is the place, after all, where the prospective home buyers will want to feel warm and comfortable. What you can do is upgrade your linens to add a touch of cozy elegance. Nothing smacks of luxury quite like designer comforters with complementary linens and drapery, so do upgrade your linens prior to showing your home. Look at what the experts at Downcomforterexpert.Com have to say about the type of bedding available in order to make the right choice for your particular needs.

Leave some designer pieces on display

One Last Word of Advice

Finally, the one thing which your realtor may not tell you when advising you to reduce most of that clutter is that you shouldn’t leave only pieces which have meaning to you. Sometimes it pays to leave your designer pieces on display while packing away family photos and other personal items which have meaning to you but no real value. You are selling a luxury home, so bear that in mind.

You will be taking everything with you that isn’t a fixture, so when you get into your new home, you’ll have that warm and cozy down comforter and your family pictures will once again be on display. But for the time being, only show your home in the best light with the broadest appeal. Remember, your memories are not for sale, but your home is, and that’s what you want to show.
