Many people from all over the United States are moving to Texas. There, you can find a variety of amazing cities and beautiful rural areas that are filled with affordable homes. The lower cost of living in Texas, combined with the great weather, tasty cuisine, plentiful job opportunities, and friendly locals, make this one of the best places to live in the country. Keep reading to learn about a few of the top cities for new homeowners, in particular.

Austin

Austin has become one of the most popular cities in the country. It boasts plenty of culture and fun things to do, as well as great neighborhoods that are filled with good schools, parks, recreational activities, and more. You will not find a shortage of jobs in Austin, where housing is surprisingly affordable despite the abundant amenities, so if you are a homebuyer, definitely check out some of the many Austin homes.

Houston

Houston is a bustling, thriving city that has a greater number of HUD-approved lenders that deal with mortgages than any other city in the US. To put it in perspective, while New York City has around 67 of these lenders, Houston has 186. This means that you have a lot more options to choose from when you are shopping for a home mortgage, and this can be especially helpful to first-time homebuyers.

San Antonio

San Antonio, Texas is yet another one of the state?s top cities for new homeowners. The housing market there has been doing very well in the last few years. In fact, prices have gone up about 8% from 2014 to 2015, according to FHFA, and the price growth has actually been positive since 2011. Despite this growth, however, the area is still really affordable, making it accessible to first-time buyers that have a limited budget.

Dallas

Considered one of the very best cities in the nation for first-time homeowners, Dallas has seen its home values growing over the last few years. Its metro area, in particular, has seen home prices increase by around 11% from 2014 to 2015. Combine the great homes with the fantastic job opportunities and first-time homebuyers can have a place that they can call home for many years to come.

Fort Worth

Also considered one of the top cities in the country for those who are buying a house for the first time, Fort Worth, like Dallas, has seen its home values increasing as well. Although smaller than Dallas, it is also a bit more affordable. Appreciation was around 9% from 2014 to 2015, but if this growth trend continues going strong, you can purchase a home and boost your equity in no time. So, if you like Dallas but you don?t have a big budget, consider Fort Worth.

There are plenty more amazing cities throughout Texas that are ideal for new homeowners. Check them out and see what they all have to offer. You are bound to find the perfect location where you can plant some roots, establish your career, and raise a family.
